Robotic Office Chair
Herman Millers new Embody office chair may very well be the cutting edge of technology in terms of comfort and ergonomics, but if for some reason you are looking for a chair that can give you the comforting feeling of “being held in someone’s arms”, look no further than this prototype Leopard chair from Oki Electric Industry Co Ltd.

Plywood Laptop Case
While the idea of owning a laptop case which appears more fragile than my actual laptop seems a bit strange, I can’t help but take a certain liking to this plywood laptop case designed by Brian Kelly.
It is formed from two bent panels of plywood that slide along one another to encase the laptop, and the inside is lined with cork to provide additional heat resistance and protection.

Can’t say I would ever actually carry this around, but I think it would work nicely as a desk laptop bin of sorts depending on what type of desk you have, being as how the finish on the case might not match most wood desks.

Office Desks: Part 13
This height-adjustable desk called the Signalement Desk ($TBD) was designed by Peter Petersen of Germany. The white computer desk, which is part of the Tank Collection, is made of MDF (medium density fibreboard), and comes with a white high lustre varnish.
If the pictures don’t convince you of the desks’ supposed quality, perhaps this very ambitious description from the Signalement website will…
The height-adjustable desk from the Tank Collection radiates lightness and elegancy just like a ballerina who barely touches the floor. The fineness is emphasized by the urgent smoothness which combined with the sturdy materials add strength and weight. The desk sparkles with energy and provides you with a feeling of design that never ends.

Office Desks: Part 9
Ok so for most of my office desk series I have shown you guys a bunch of great desks, all of which I really like, but most of which aren’t really all that practical. So to change things up I wanted to show you this gorgeous black desk which has more of a classic design as opposed to the more modern minimalist designs I have shown you up until now.
The Portofino Decorative Desk is made by Stanley Furniture, and offers an aged appeal with extreme antiquing and the Portofino’s signature rub-thorough finish. It features a center keyboard drawer, two utility drawers, and one file drawer, and comes in either ivory or basque black.
You can buy the desk at Black Lion Furniture for $1179.

Herman Miller Embody Chair
After 6 years and millions of dollars of R&D, Herman Millers highly-anticipated new office chair, the Embody, is finally hitting the market much to the delight of office ninjas around the country.
The Embody builds upon the massive success of its predecessor, the Aeron ergonomic desk chair, which 14 years ago began allowing workaholics to spend entire weekends sitting at their desks without developing serious back injuries.
The chair, which was designed by the late Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber, features a 4 layer seat cushion, one of which has 93 interconnected plastic hexagon discs, or “pixels”, which move independently as the chairs users shift their weight around.
The Embody comes in 13 colors and three finishes, and should be available starting early 2009 for a measly $1595.

Office Desks: Part 4
If my morning coffee routine ever stops giving me the energy boost I need to get work done fast, it looks like simply sitting in the vicinity of this office desk will accelerate my work flow to the speed of light…which is not surprising when considering the fact that it was inspired by space shuttles.

Office Desks: Part 3
This uniquely shaped office desk comes from designer Martin Holzapfel and is called the Bureau.
The design is a combination of two functions: a desk and a shelf, both of which can be moved around and positioned freely to fit the space in your home office, making it a great option for those with limited space or those looking for a flexible corner desk.
The shelves give the user the option to store things out of plain view and are large enough to fit your laptop, office supplies, or books.

Office Desks: Part 2
Next up in my office desk series is the MILK desk by designer Soren Kjaer. The desk aspires to appear smart but not overly sophisticated, to unite simple form with practical function, and is truly one of the more visually appealing computer desks I have come across.
Aside from making your Mac look even more pretty, the MILK desk features a built in fish tank, garbage bin, pen holder, file cabinets, height adjuster, cable drawer, and an iPod storage box. It measures 55.12′ by 31.49′ and comes in a white high gloss lacquer with a massive aluminium or chrome foot.
You can buy the MILK desk HERE.
More pics after the jump.
